Old Door

This old door with its ancient handle is at Southwell Minster in Nottinghamshire.
I was attracted to the texture of the wood, the deep colours lit by a low sun, and by thoughts about its long history, as an access point for Bishops, Knights and Monks down through the centuries. I'm glad it is still in use today, and hope that it continues its function for centuries to come.
