The Green Man is an ancient pagan symbol found around the world, and in many different cultures. Usually represented by a head with vegetation growing from his nostrils and mouth, the green man is usually associated with growth and spring, and ressurection.
This Green Man can be found carved into the stonewoprk at Southwell Cathedral in Nottinghamshire

btw... why is he called the green man if he isn't green? :p just wondering!
@allyy`*: The green man is of such great antiquity, and found all over the world. The green refers to the vegetation that grows from him, and is a symbol of life, and renewal by all accounts.

Great light on this.... which brings out all the texture of the stone and the highlights of the greenman. But then again I am a fan of your work... hard for you to disappoint me, Richard.
