Taken on top of Kinder Scout, the highest point in Derbyshire, this wind sculptured boulder seems to balance on the surrounding landscape.

astonishing , where does this rock come from? it dosend seem a rocky montain isnt it strang to see this rock here? it look like sombody put it there

@hrg: The mountains here were scraped and formed by glaciers in the Ice Age, and then by wind and rain over thousands of years. These boulders or 'Tors' as they are known, are much harder than the surrounding surface as it wears down, so they get left on top, and form amazing shapes. I'll be posting some more views in the week.

A monumental subject that you've captured well. I'd love to see a B&W version of this one. Lots of good texture and shadow in the land and clouds.

It (the rock) stands majestic against the background of land, clouds, and sky. I wonder how long it will stay balanced. Lovely imagery. You seem to have given this image a great deal of thought before you took pictures of it.
