CondemnedPosted by Richard Irwin (Belper, United Kingdom) on 8 August 2007 in Abstract & Conceptual. The prisoners were usually held for several years until a ship could transport them to a colony, or they were hanged. During their years of confinement, they were forbidden to talk to anyone accept the clergy. They would be taken to the prison chapel each day, and to prevent communication with eachother, they wore leather hoods, and were confined in an upright coffin during the prayers. A view of life in Lincoln's Victorian prison in the 19C. Tomorrow I'll post a more gritty B&W version
