This little girl lived with her family in makeshift tents by the side of a railway line running into Karachi. The family had come into Karachi from Sind province, and found a living sorting trash (recycling). This was in 1988, so she would be about 21 now I would guess.

I really like this shot. She looks slightly mischievous. I think it'd be really cool if you could find her again and take a shot of her all grown up.

WOW!!! Richard, I can’t stop staring at this today. I have a strong suspicion this will become one of my favourite pics of all time!! I don’t think words are enough to describe how we feel when we look at her sweet sweet face. What would we give for a world full of smiles like hers. She is an angel. My heart stops when I wonder how she is now. I can only hope and pray she is well. Thank you so much for sharing this.

@jeremy Holden: Hi Jeremy Thanks for dropping by. I've seen a lot of your work online as youv'e trecked across this planet on assignments, but also in books, and I saw you on TV chasing the Sumatran Tiger with another cameraman. Wow, thats pretty amazing, and your images are always superb, as they always were.
Best wishes to you, I'll be in touch via email
