This is pier in the town of Whitby. I enjoyed seeing the visitors brave the crashing waves spraying over them as they dashed along the windswept pier to the lighthouse at the end

Love the sky in this one Richard!! Gives it great scale with the tiny people on the pier. It's what I would call a "sweeping" image!! Bravo!

Awesome shot at an awesome location. Location is very important in photography and you have chosen and right one for this. Love the color and extension of dock into water.

It doesn't look so big: until you notice those tiny shapes are people. I wonder if this location is the inspiration for the crashing waves shot in the recent Danny Boyle movie, "Sunshine."

@Twelvebit: Very interesting comment, I'll have to check it out. Those waves were going straight over the pier when I went to cross, it was quite scary, but a quick dash and you could avoid a soaking.....but only to be dived bombed by angry gulls at the piers end.....

@Michael: Its a fantastic town, one of my favorites....and the abbey is stunning, and it really does convey that Dracula atmosphere from Bram Stokers gothic novel in some weathers and light.
excellent composition in one side all is calm in the other the rage as taken over and all of this under a great sky. fantastic
