this middle road seems to separate the stormy water (in the left) from the still water in the right. Great pic

Nice shot, love the contrast between the colors.

Love the contrast between laft and right (as Rags already mentioned). Great colours.

Oh Richard, very, very impressive, Perfect composition and balance

Excellent! That blue sky really pops the rest of the image!

@Craiger: I always carry my Cokin filters, and here is why, as the grad blue brings out the sky and helps equalise the exposure in the highlights
wonderful perspective, great sky!

Wow, cool. Did you use an ND Filter for this one?
18 Oct 2007 7:43am
@DaveB: Not an ND in this shot, but I used a graduated blue over the lens which has a similar effect.
This Whitby series is quite magical! Thank you so much for posting it.

Beautiful as always. I specially like the water coming ashore from the left side of the image

Wow, totally masterly once again, Richard! Must agree with Rags here, wonderful sense of a dividing section between the stormy water on the left and the still on the right. Fabulous sighting and composition!! Every piece in this series has been nothing less than superb. Have really enjoyed it!

There's some kind of connection with Whitby on my mind but I can't place it. It's interesting that you use actual on camera filters.

@Twelvebit: Although I use Photoshop to finish images, to me the PP is the darkroom, and so I like to control as much as I can when taking the image, and filters are a great asset always. Just a simple warm up, grad grey or blue or ND can make such a difference.
Love this one!
