What the ancestor metPosted by Richard Irwin (Belper, United Kingdom) on 30 November 2007 in Miscellaneous. Creswell Crags lies on the border of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Ancient people occupied the caves for 45,000 years, and for much of that time they competed with hyenas and cave bears for occupancy of the land. We don't have hyenas here today, but their bones, and the bones of their prey are often uncovered in the caves at Creswell, along with ancient cave paintings dating back 15000 years.
