Crich Chase, Derbyshire
This area was once an enclosure (protected land for hunting deer) about 1000 years ago, and today remains as an area of mixed woodland, with steep slopes, and rocky outcrops. The word Crich comes fro the Celtic name for 'hill' or 'crag', which was Cryc. The nearby village of Crich is mentioned in The Domesday Book in 1086, but it was probably settled for many centuries before that.

Nice shop of this vast country landscape!
Feels as though deforestation has taken place somehow.

The immediate foreground does look somewhat desolate, but I must say the landscape beyond and sky is absolutely breathtaking! Wonderful history too. Awesome work yet again, Richard!!
