A member of the Colubers (Coluber najadum), this little snake is really handsome. Very quick, and a bit of a biter when handled, I found this one slithering through the undergrowth whilst looking for bigger snakes.

I would be off and running a mile, big respect!!..You've got a very, very nice get the background out of focus technique,....so howd'a you do that?

@CATCHLIGHT: Thanks Mike. It used to be easy in the old days, as almost all lenses had proper DOF markers. The technique is to focus closer to the front of the lens than the subject you want to focus on, then use the aperture to bring the subject into focus. My old Nikon FM that I used to take this shot had a very useful lever to check your DOF through the lens.
