Me (embarrassing photo exhibit 1)

Photo of me taken around July 1988. I am resplendent with an awful beard (first and only beard I ever had I must add), whilst climbing along the Batura Glacier in Northern Pakistan.

Nothing embarrassing about this photo, it's smashing, you look very handsome, nice to know that some people never get old...I know I do, gee I didn't know you could post '88 photos, I looked really good then ;)

@Lorraine: Thanks. I cheated for sure - its amazing what 20 years has done. I avoid being photographed nowadays.

You look like the quintessential outdoorsman, Richard... Not nearly as bad as one I have of myself (1970's) in the Rockies with flared trousers, flowered shirt, and rather odd looking long hair... posing on a rock like Daniel Boone... Thank goodness I can't find that one in my collection anymore...

@Daryl: I used to have very long dreadlocks, but after cutting them off, I kept them (in the loft) for some mysterious sentimental reason. Years later (having forgotten all about them) I got a terrible fright in the dark loft, as I came face to face with what looked like a horrific furry creature crouched in the corner of the loft. I had to ask friends round to help me get of this thing. They were as terrified as me. After much alcohol (to calm our nerves) we discovered the creature was the remains of these dreadlocks.
I suppose the beard I cut off may still be growing somewhere and might be scaring someone as I write this !!

In December that same year (1988) I went to the Himalayan region, too, to Tibet, more precisely. In the first night I got an awful headache. I didn't climb but I reached (by car) 5000m on a pass from Lhasa to Shigatze.
