Where I LivePosted by Richard Irwin (Belper, United Kingdom) on 13 December 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture. This was (still is) one of my places of residence. A little narrowboat called 'Irene' after the Greek Goddess for peace. When we first got her she was red, but we painted her light blue in 2007. Irene lies at Sawley Marina now, on the River Trent. 6' 10" wide, with just 37' of living space, just a sweet little home on the water. The great thing about a boat is that if I get fed up of one location, I can move somewhere else, and as the top speed on the canal is 4mph, you learn to take your time, enjoy the moment, and de-stress. The little dog is mine too, he's called 'Sprocket'
