Little Oak Tree in SepiaPosted by Richard Irwin (Belper, United Kingdom) on 28 January 2009 in Landscape & Rural. A very lightly sepia toned version of the shot I posted yesterday. I couldn't make up my mind which version I liked best (the colour, the B&W, the sepia) so all three have been posted on AM3. Nikon F100, 24mm lens, Ilford HP5 film, Sepia toned & framing in Photoshop.

Not sure which I like best either, they each have their own personality. 28 Jan 2009 5:58am Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdomboth very good, but i like yesterdays more 28 Jan 2009 6:29am Mike from Lichfield, United KingdomI'm not sure which one I prefer as they're both excellent. What technique do you use to create the black edge on your photos? 28 Jan 2009 7:45am Rui from Leiria, PortugalWell... it's difficult to decide... but I think I prefer yesterday's version. Is more dramatic. 28 Jan 2009 10:21am Betty from New Jersey, United StatesIt's really close, but I think I prefer the B&W version. Both are excellent. 28 Jan 2009 12:14pm MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomI really can't chose between them, they are both excellent! 28 Jan 2009 12:51pm Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaWow amazing what a slight tone adjustment can completely change a photograph, I love both... 28 Jan 2009 1:00pm Cheryl from Texas, United StatesI like both, this seems a little more silvery. I love your treatment! 28 Jan 2009 1:10pm Jen from United StatesI really like this one...simple, subtle, but so much detail...truly delightful! 28 Jan 2009 4:51pm Eyeing Africa from ?, UgandaIncredible capture, it has a raw and windswept look. I like the sephia tone. 28 Jan 2009 5:11pm DaveB from Exeter, United KingdomAlthough the tree seems to stand out slightly more in this one, I prefer the pure B&W one! 28 Jan 2009 5:24pm Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesI love this version too. It's so hard to decide. Yesterday's image gets the nod by the narrowest of margins. 28 Jan 2009 5:26pm Mark Smith from Burlington, United StatesYou are right. It is a very tough decision between the different tones. They are both beautiful shots. I think I like the sepia toned image a little bit. 28 Jan 2009 6:13pm mo.langel from Courtelary, SwitzerlandSplendide ce sepia et quelle magnifique lumière!!!! 28 Jan 2009 7:45pm dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesI think the sepia highlight the light on the front of the tree a little better but I'm generally a fan of b/w. 29 Jan 2009 12:01am Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomOf the three, this is my slight favorite . . somehow, the sepia toning brings out a touch more detail (in the mind if not the eye). 29 Jan 2009 12:07am -1q5yChØt!c- from karaj, Iranwow,Another fantastic, wonderful, amazing and great shot from Richard...Excellent !!! 29 Jan 2009 12:16am baobab from Cambridge, United Stateswhere's the colour shot? (still to come?) I think of the two you've posted I marginally prefer the b+w, but that is probably because I am in a silver mood right now. very interesting to see the impact a slight change in tone can have: thanks for posting both. 29 Jan 2009 12:35am Kylie Greenan from Richmond, AustraliaBeautiful beautiful work! But I didn't see the color one? 29 Jan 2009 8:34pm Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesBlack and white or sepia - sepia or black and white? Hard to pick a favorite. I believe the structure and interplay of light and shadow make this photo -- even if the overall tone were some odd color. Very beautiful. 30 Jan 2009 1:06pm mehdi from Pecs, HungaryBoth are great. I prefer this one. It has a heavier atmosphere. 30 Jan 2009 6:55pm |
