Observing from West Cheshire, United Kingdom''Let's see if you can get the stick - if you dare'' Nope, doesn't look a friendly dog, but it's a great street shot with the Spanish woman. 2 Feb 2009 5:30am Alina Livia Lazăr from Leigh, United KingdomI love the shadows on the wall, they add a dramatic feeling to the photo. The position of the woman as well as that of the dog seem somehow interrelated and even if the first perception is that the dog dominates the photo, actually is the woman who does this. Her hand, in a relaxed position and her calm look demonstrates that she is actually in control. Despite your title, the photo is not so funny to me. It is almost sad in its simplicity. I don't know why (yet). 2 Feb 2009 9:18am Craig from Vacaville, California, United StatesAwesome shot Richard! Love the subject and shadows the most. The stick is a real bonus! 2 Feb 2009 9:44am Shirin Moosavi from Tehran, IranThe man is going inside, the lady is watching the dog, the dog is watching you and you are watching both of them plus the stikc and highlights and shadows! Tough job with such a great result! :) 2 Feb 2009 10:15am Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainWell compensated image and very luminous moment. 2 Feb 2009 12:48pm Bernarrrd from Toronto, CanadaBeautifully captured. That dog's not sure about the photographer I think. 2 Feb 2009 3:55pm Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesI like the drama, here, Richard ... almost as if the dog and the woman are daring you to take that photo ... nice texture and shadow in that light wall ... ron 2 Feb 2009 4:00pm Virgil from Richmond, United StatesI think the composition is great. The dog looks like he is ready to play. 2 Feb 2009 4:06pm Rags from Plano, United StatesSuperbly composed. It is as though the dog and the lady were posing for you. I really like the image. 2 Feb 2009 4:08pm Diane Schuller from Hythe, CanadaThis is splendid. The composition, the simplicity, the processing -- all so perfect. Even those brick steps tend to point outwards ... so much to love about this one. 2 Feb 2009 4:51pm R.J.Dee from Ettlingen, Germany... and Madam is sending out signs with fingers and foot - very interesting motive 2 Feb 2009 5:16pm Robert from Kingsville, CanadaJust daring you to make a move for the door or his stick ! I like this very much. 2 Feb 2009 5:32pm Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdomgreat shot, they have both spotted somthing 2 Feb 2009 6:00pm MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomLove the composition and the expression on both their faces. 2 Feb 2009 6:21pm @MaryB: Thanks Mary. For the first time in years, we got snow - about 3" at present - I know its not much, but to me it looks great.... and its still snowing. Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceI like this composition, as if we were in old times 2 Feb 2009 6:34pm Pixim from Nice, FranceI like much this portrait of street where the two protagonists make echo. The composition is perfect, and the small stick threw for the dog is one more Bravo ;) 2 Feb 2009 6:49pm yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, GreeceI like both experssions - very nice image 2 Feb 2009 7:30pm Nataly from Santa Monica, United StatesGreat shot! Very well composed. It looks almost graphic with very sharp B&W devider. Two figures well expressed! 2 Feb 2009 11:39pm San G. from Encino, California, United StatesElbows, fingers, doorframe top, angle of the foot, brick stairs, pathway trim, etc. ... so many angles here ... and then ... the dog. Sitting solid. Owning territory. The stick doesn't matter while you're there. This dog is benign until action is called for, and then "watch out!" I think it's the same for this solid woman, but she doesn't have to worry, she has the dog. The man (on the other hand - and thank you to Shirin) has both the woman AND the dog, so he just goes about this business! GREAT SHOT. I know I ought not to, but it seems that I perceive a woman's face profiled in the shadow of the wall. I had a feeling of the strength of the negative (by that I mean - empty) space. When I looked back, there was the shadow, and perhaps a face. 3 Feb 2009 2:46am Barbara from Florida, United StatesWow, I like this. Nicely framed. I especially like the dog and his shadow on the wall. Great title. 3 Feb 2009 3:29am Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaWonderful atmosphere - they both look so tired! The woman rests her hand on her hip, while the dog rests his entire body against the wall and can't even be bothered to get the stick. A poignant tableau! 3 Feb 2009 5:20am Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesMuseum quality, Richard! Classic. Magnificent. 3 Feb 2009 12:41pm |
