I like the black border. How did you go about creating that?

@Mike: Hi Mike. Its very simple to create in Photoshop or similar software. After I finish editing an image, I create a new layer, then choose 'select all' (ctrl A) (or do this from the selection menu). This puts a selection marquee around the outer edge of the entire image. I then go to the edit menu, choosing 'Stroke' from the menu drop down. Depending on the size of your image, type in a number for a 'stroke width', choose your stroke colour, and tick the 'inside' option. Finally click OK to create the stroke on the selection you made. (this 800X600 image used a 7px stroke width, and black as the colour). The final stage involves Deselecting the selection (ctrl D), and applyung a Gaussian Blur filter. Adjust the blur amunt to get a desired result (I use anything from around 2 to 8 depending on the effect I'm after).
To further experiment, you can create rounder edges at the selection corners by feathering the selection by about 15%. This looks nicer in a lot of cases. Or experiment with different colours, pixel stroke widths, and applying other filters before putting the Gaussian blur on. Have fun.
nice shot, realy moody image with the help of the lighting

More impressive with this light than on yesterday's shot

As Grant has noted, this feels different than the previous shot. Interesting how distinct the same subject can seem when seen with different lighting situations.

interesting how the b+w really picks up on the textures of light and focuses the observer on the essential energy in the shot.
